Shitty Little

Directed by Jeff McKay, Takashi Iwasaki

Logline: This playful, poignant & memorable short shadow play, where humans take from forests whatever they desire - leaving nothing. A collaborative film by a Canadian filmmaker and a Japanese visual artist.

Synopsis: This playful, poignant & very memorable 7 min live action-animation shadow play, where humans take from forests whatever they desire - leaving nothing. In western culture there is no value attributed to nature. It must be taken and shaped into a product for sale to have worth. A prevalent societal attitude: How a meadow, a marsh, or a small wood "Isn't doing anything", and should be, "Made into something".

Director's Statement: Thankfully the climate crisis is recognized but!, there is little to no acknowledgement of the human driven catastrophe of the bio-diversity crisis.

Humans rarely consider the needs of nature. Nature is not infinite and is now on the ropes. Humans take and take and take while nature exponentially & silently disappears. We clear cut forests, the grocery store & homes to insects, birds, reptiles, animals, rivers & lakes...
