Director's Statement: I was inspired to make this film in order to depict the courage and strength of an Iranian vocalist who is forbidden from performing her songs in public because she is a woman. Women in Iran suffer under a despotic system, which limits their rights under the pretext of religion and male superiority. What is the best way to challenge these restrictions while theIranian regime's response to civil protests is violence and imprisonment? I believe that for artists, the best way to do this is to use art as a mode of contestation.
