Director's Statement: Although the opening of the film was shot in Goldfield, Arizona, the middle “dream sequence"" of the film was shot outdoors in Winnipeg at minus 30 degree temperatures. Given the filmstock and degraded look, this sequence appears as though it were shot in the desert.
FILM(lode) marks Deco Dawson's first film with two performers. Actor Brent Neale is best known for his work in Guy Maddin's Careful. Brent Neale also appears in Dawson's film Ne Crane Pas Sois Modeste. Carson Nattrass appears in Deco Dawson's The Last Moment.
