Motif: Reflection
One of the biggest themes we are exploring is acceptance and self-love that is why we will be using reflections as a motif. In this story both Vince and Logan are struggling to accept their true self, repressing every emotion that can remind them of who they truly are. What Shelby represents is the force pushing them towards their journey, making them look at themselves in a whole new way. Reflections are used in 3 different ways to emphasize the theme:
1. Logan is a reflection of Vince. All the qualities and faults that Vince's finds in himself is also found in Logan. Including their homosexuality.
2. In the punishment room, Vince as installed a wall full of mirrors so that Logan is forced to look at himself after he's been tattooed.
3. The infinity room, is a black room that feels completely endless. The floor is black and glossy, reflecting the bodies of whoever walks on it. This room represents Shelby and she only exist in that room. The reason for the reflective floor is to represent how Shelby helps both her husband, Vince, and son, Logan, to look at themselves in a different way.

Furthermore, water represents a new perspective on life. When light is shined on water, if you look at it in the right perspective, the colors create a rainbow and this phenomenon is called “Iridescence.""
