Horses in Winter
Directed by Rick Raxlin, Patrick Vallely
Synopsis: Through the eyes of a child, we experience the anxiety of half-understood events and feelings of powerlessness. This film juxtaposes an eight year old's last summer at the cottage with his adult self's more complicated existence. Ben Waxman's happiness with his family is only peripherally disrupted by the goings-on of the adult world. Ben's older self must contend with money concerns, sharing time with second and first families, and other responsibilities associated with growing up. He wonders where the "state of grace" he knew as a child has disappeared to.
