Flood
Directed by Amanda Strong
Logline: Thunder, a youth, is accompanied by SpiderWoman and ThunderBird in the wake of a colonial flood.
Synopsis: SpiderWoman and ThunderBird act as vessels, composing and carrying the story of an Indigenous youth named Thunder, navigating her way through a colonial flood. SpiderWoman battles against an old Ghost Judge who frantically writes history from the side of oppression and displacement. The Ghost Judge fills the entire world with his writings and law. This film asks: whose truth is real? What tactics do we use to decolonize, fight back and move forward? Driven by a haunting sound design, Flood is a hybrid of shadow puppetry, digital and stop-motion animation that pits truth against deception.
