Diaspora Ethiopia
Directed by Hagere Selam (shimby) Zegeye-Gebrehiwot
Logline: A diasporic reverie on what life would be like if the filmmaker's family never immigrated.
Synopsis: The filmmaker envisions what life would have been like if her parents never left their country of origin. The haunting imagery and disjointed narration (in Amharic, left un-translated) create a portrait of the place her mother and father called home.

Director's Statement: The voiceover is an audio portrait in Amharic of how I envision different aspects of my life if I were born and raised in Ethiopia. I've decided to not have subtitles in order to unsettle my audience and for them to confront their feelings of entitlement around knowing and not knowing what's being said.
