Following the tragic death of Gerry Kuta, the head of the dutch elm disease department at the City of Winnipeg, Karen Asmundson inherited the job and his office full of 30 years of his own files and junk. Among the mess was an unlabeled answering machine tape that contained only 5 messages from a person who called in as different personas in order to deter the planting of basswood trees on his block.
