Director's Statement: Beyond Curls & Kinks is the story of Canadian women, girls, and men who have experienced racism, discriminations, microaggressions because of their Afro-textured hair. They trusted me enough to tell me their natural hair stories over the years, and I've been collecting those stories since 2016. It was important for me to not let their stories rest with me. I knew I had to do something to get their stories out there. Beyond Curls & Kinks gives them that platform.
